Introduction
Electronic Registration will revolutionise property law practice in New Zealand. By the end of 2002 it will be possible to lodge discharges, transfers and mortgages electronically and update the Register instantaneously. There will be new tasks to perform and new concepts to learn. This seminar booklet introduces the key changes. It also walks through the process of preparing and lodging an electronic conveyancing transaction, and highlights the associated security and support materials available.
The ability to lodge electronic dealings (known as eDealings) is part of the Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) Landonline project. Stage One of Landonline has been implemented in all LINZ offices to enable internal processing to be carried out electronically. Conveyancers are now able to carry out remote title and instrument searches. These materials will look at the next stage, Landonline.
