Will Drafting - today's challenging issues

Drafting effective wills can sometimes be a difficult journey to navigate to ensure that the will-maker’s intentions are carried out. Building on the successful 2024 Effective Will Drafting – fitness for purpose? presentation, this webinar will:

• Canvas the matters that need to be explored before a will is drafted
• Explore the importance of correctly identifying the will-maker’s assets and more complex property considerations such as embryos, gametes, and cryptocurrency
• Consider jurisdictional considerations
• Discuss the importance of capturing “non-conventional” relationships and children and remoter issue born through surrogacy and other means
• Review the key developments from contemporary case law to highlight relevant considerations
• Provide practical advice on the importance of retaining adequate records of instructions and advice.

Vicki Ammundsen Vicki Ammundsen Trust Law, Auckland Vicki is a trust practitioner. She has an appreciation of the issues that confront clients in the context of, and interaction between, estate planning, residential care subsidy concerns, capacity, relationship property, family and trust related issues.

Theresa Donnelly Perpetual Guardian, Auckland Theresa has a wealth of experience in wills, estate administration and elder law. She was formerly at Public Trust (senior solicitor and team leader), the Ministry of Social Development where she was lead senior in the public law team working with Parliamentary Counsel, older people’s policy and the Office of Senior Citizens. Theresa is a regular presenter to professional groups and is known for her practical approach to thorny issues.

Registration but non-attendance on the day

• Under the CPD Scheme only those who attend a live webinar are eligible to claim CPD hours.
• If you registered but were unable to attend on the day, you can view and hear the archived recording of the presentation.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

You may cancel your registration eight working days in advance of an event, and you will receive a refund less a 25% administration fee. If you cancel less than eight working days in advance of the event, no refund is payable. If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your registration to another person. If you wish to do so you must advise CLE New Zealand Law Society in writing of the change. CLE reserves the right to close registrations, and cancel or reschedule an event as necessary. Where an event is cancelled by CLE, a full refund is payable.
