Introduction

The Unit Titles (Strengthening Body Corporate Governance and Other Matters) Amendment Act received royal assent in early May, though is not yet in force.
While the title of the Amendment Act focuses on “strengthening body corporate governance”, the “other matters” are also significant. The Amendment Act effects technical changes to the law, as well as policy changes.

As the Amendment Act touches on many aspects of unit titles law and body corporate practice, the aim of this webinar is to outline the provisions of the Amendment Act and to comment on their practical implications.

There is more to be done. However, as a practitioner working in this area, the Amendment Act is very welcome, as it helps make the law relating to body corporate issues more robust.
Thanks are due to all those lawyers, managers, policymakers and politicians who have invested time and energy – often without recompense – in achieving a positive legislative outcome.
