Smart phone penetration among adults is over 95%. The mobile phone is used as a day-to-day tool, not just to communicate, but as an internet device, for entertainment etc, the phone is with a person almost 100% of the time.
Android phones make up about 60.6% of the phones in New Zealand and iPhone make up around 38.95%. That is nearly 99.95% of the smart phones are either Android or iOS phones. In criminal cases the representation of Android phones are much higher: well over 90% based on my experience.
Both Android and iOS phones are generally tracking the location of the phones for various reasons eg location specific advertising. For clarification, tracking location discussed in this webinar does not involve polling data. This can only place the phone within the coverage area of the cell site. Phone location is more accurate as it uses GPS, Wifi, cell site data.The phone location is considered accurate. This webinar considers the level of accuracy of phone location. It will consider:
