Online CPD Module

Presentation time: 60 minutes

There is no “one size fits all” with employment agreements and often important difficult issues are not addressed correctly leading to unexpected liabilities and disputes.

This webinar, based on the popular presentation at the 2014 NZLS CLE Employment Law Conference, will explore the legal principles and provide practical advice on difficult contractual issues. Being aware of the issues before you start drafting is essential.

In this module the presenters will discuss:

  • trial periods
  • probationary periods
  • mixing trial and probationary periods
  • volunteers and interns
  • unpaid pre-employment trials and internships
  • sleepovers and what constitutes “work”
  • seasonal work
  • employment arrangements relating to seamen
  • employment arrangements relating to farmers
    – seasonal arrangements
    – benefits and accommodation.

Learning objectives

After this module you will be able to:
  • Identify difficult employment contract issues and develop solutions.
  • Apply your knowledge in the advice you give your clients.
  • Draft contractual clauses which adequately address those issues.

Please contact us if you use a dial up internet connection.
