Death, and the period of time before and after, is a turning point that often triggers stress, disharmony, and legal complexity. The object of this module is to provide practitioners with an update on developments in the law in this field, and practical guidance on their application. The panel of presenters will cover:

  • End-of-life decision making (and the various factors that can threaten such decision making, such as duress, diminished capacity, and the lack of a substituted decision maker)
  • Relationship property issues arising on the death of a partner
  • Interpreting wills and dealing with changes, revocations and errors
  • Executors’ duties when responding to claims
  • How to deal with claims
  • Common pitfalls and practical tips
  • Recent case law updates.

The presenters look forward to sharing these latest developments with you and providing practical tips, with a view to reducing complexity and conflict during this highly-charged period of time in your client’s life.
