With New Zealanders using cell phones tens of billions of times every year, it is likely that cell phone data is associated with every criminal activity. This is evident in the fact that the Police are increasingly using cell phone data to place people at locations of interest.
Cell phone data is an emerging class of evidence and the understanding of cell phone data as evidence is limited: the strengths and limitations of cell phone data as evidence is not fully understood.
Due to this lack of understanding, lawyers are not making full use of cell phone data as evidence. The aim of this webinar is to highlight that cell phone data can help in court cases in unexpected ways: particularly to challenge other evidence.
