The death of a family member is an extremely stressful time, and this stress can be compounded when the deceased has died without a will. Even when there is a will, if gifts fail, there may be an intestacy or partial intestacy. You need a clear pathway to guide stressed family members. This practical seminar delivered by experienced presenters will bring the subject matter to life with real world examples and discussion. It is designed to help you effectively guide your clients through the process of an intestate deceased estate as efficiently as possible.

Theresa Donnelly 2025 Theresa Donnelly
Perpetual Guardian, Auckland

Theresa has a wealth of experience in elder law and trust and estate-related matters. She is a regular presenter to professional groups and is known for her practical approach to thorny issues. Theresa was formerly at Public Trust (senior solicitor and team leader) and the Ministry of Social Development where she was lead senior in the public law team, working with Parliamentary Counsel, older people’s policy and the Office of Senior Citizens.


Henry Stokes 2025 Henry Stokes
Perpetual Guardian, Auckland

Henry is an expert in the trusts and estates field and is a regular seminar presenter as well as accepting media interviews for trust, estates and wills-related matters. He has experience in all facets of the process from the preparation and implementation stages through to disputes, claims and proceedings, having appeared in the Family and High Courts as well as the Court of Appeal. Henry was appointed General Counsel in 2019.

Cancellation and refund policy

You may cancel your registration eight working days in advance of an event, and you will receive a refund less a 25% administration fee. If you cancel less than eight working days in advance of the event, no refund is payable. If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your registration to another person. If you wish to do so you must advise CLE New Zealand Law Society in writing of the change. CLE reserves the right to close registrations, and cancel or reschedule an event as necessary. Where an event is cancelled by CLE, a full refund is payable.
