This workshop builds on the NZLS CLE workshop Mediation Principles and Process
which examines the essentials of mediation. Mediation Skills and Strategies provides further opportunity to observe mediation in action and to apply theory to practice in order to prepare to become a mediator. Key areas such as conflict diagnosis, strategic analysis and preparation will be covered in a mix of interactive discussion, small group work and applied roleplays. In addition, attention will be given to micro skills such as listening, questioning, reframing and detoxifying. On the second day participants will be given opportunity to focus on a scenario from a specific area of mediation practice: family, civil, employment or education.
Presenters: Virginia Goldblatt, David Patten and Denise Evans
