Partners who focus only on their own performance and not on that of their team members may severely limit the potential of their firms. This workshop explains in practical terms the link between profitability, supervision, and staff retention. This workshop will support and inspire firms to build profits within a firm culture that motivates both partners and staff, supports career satisfaction, and provides quality service to clients.

Participants will be given tools and hands-on practise in supervision skills and systems. They will draw up plans that can be applied immediately for the supervision needs of their reporting lawyers.

This proven workshop will assist you and your firm to:

  • Increase the productivity and motivation of partners and staff

Learning objectives

  • Delegate effectively and encourage delegatees to take responsibility.
  • Use systems that increase the efficiency of supervision.


The format will be a mix of presentations followed by discussion. Participants can expect some hands-on practice of key people management skills such as delegating files and application of systems for feedback and coaching. The workbook is designed to allow the application of concepts to each participant’s individual firm and situation. During the day participants will complete planning sheets for the people and files they supervise so that they can immediately put the session to use back in the workplace.

Who should attend

This programme is aimed primarily at partners and senior associates who are responsible for managing workflow, staff development and performance. As this is a hands-on practice workshop it is not suitable for Practice Managers unless they accompany a partner with a view to implementing systems in their firm. Note: each workshop is limited to 16 participants.

Cancellation and refund policy

Please note: Minimum and maximum numbers apply. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come/first-served basis. Registrations close 10 working days before the presentation date (the closing date). NZLS CLE Ltd reserves the right to cancel any session that does not reach the budgeted minimum number of registrations. This decision will be made on the closing date and a full refund will be made to each registrant of the cancelled session. If you cancel your registration before the closing date, a refund will be made, less a $100 administration fee. After the closing date, there will be no refund. You may transfer your registration to another person until five working days before the presentation. Please advise NZLS CLE Ltd in writing of the change.
