Spousal Maintenance Applications

Spousal Maintenance Applications
Add to CPD Planner

Spousal maintenance is often a highly contentious issue – much needed by the applicant, and much disputed by the respondent. At this very stressful time for your clients, it is extremely important that you have a strong understanding of spousal maintenance applications and defences. This webinar will help equip you with this understanding.

Topics will include:

  • Law around maintenance
  • Practical checklists – whether acting for the applicant or respondent (including counter arguments)
  • Consideration of interim maintenance orders including reflections on the amounts that the courts have been ordering
  • Viability of an application
  • Effect of COVID-19 on applications
  • Different affidavits to file
  • Case law update.

Learning objectives

By attending this webinar you will:

  • Learn what issues can arise with applications and counter arguments. You will be provided with checklists for both.
  • Be more familiar with the law around maintenance and recent case law.

Who should attend
