The most significant changes in consumer-related legislation for 20 years will soon be in force, and will bring a keener focus on consumer protection. The Fair Trading Act has been significantly amended, with new provisions relating to unfair contract terms, unsubstantiated representations, and extended warranties. Statutes addressing unsolicited goods and services, door to door sales, layby sales and auctions have been modernised.
