Presentation time: 60 minutes

Since 2009 the Law Commission has been undertaking a staged review of the The Trustee Act 1956 and trust law generally. By the end of September, the final report will have been submitted, tabled in Parliament and published.

In this webinar, Law Commissioner Professor Geoff McLay will discuss and illustrate how the law of trusts will change – and the implications of those changes for trusts practitioners and their clients.

At the Trusts Conference in June this year, Geoff McLay spoke on the areas being covered by the Commission in the final stage of its recommended reforms. Delegates were told to ‘watch the space’ relating in particular to provision of information to beneficiaries; expression of trustee’s duties; exemption clauses and corporate trustees.

Attend this webinar to receive an up-to-the-minute picture of the new law of trusts, and how NZ trusts law has been adjusted to become more compatible with overseas trusts law.
