The explosion in New Zealand’s property market has seen a steady expansion in cases about property. Disputes over the acquisition and protection of interests in land have become a part of New Zealand’s litigation environment that no commercial litigator or property lawyer can ignore. This seminar will review some of the recent case law in the area, with a particular focus on decisions from the appellate courts.

Topics covered will include:

  • The sale and purchase of land, including cases dealing with pre-contractual representations, warranties, conditions, settlement and cancellation
  • The interpretation and enforceability of covenants over land
  • The principle of indefeasibility of title, including Land Transfer Act 2017 fraud and in personam claims.

  • The current approach and direction of the Courts to property law cases.

Andrew has been counsel on many of the leading property law cases to come before the New Zealand Courts in recent times, as well as being counsel in many property related arbitrations.

Registration but non-attendance on the day

  • If you registered but were unable to attend on the day, you can view and hear the archived recording of the presentation.

Cancellation and refund policy

You may cancel your registration eight working days in advance of an event, and you will receive a refund less a 25% administration fee. If you cancel less than eight working days in advance of the event, no refund is payable. If you register for an in-person event and do not produce a current My Vaccine Pass, you will be denied entry, and no refund is payable. If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your registration to another person. If you wish to do so you must advise CLE in writing of the change. NZLS CLE Ltd reserves the right to close registrations and cancel or reschedule an event as necessary. Where an event is cancelled by CLE, a full refund is payable.
