CPD HRS

It is imperative that your clients are aware of the various international and cross border impacts on their business activities. This webinar will take a practical approach in considering some of the key issues in this area.

Often tax issues are considered too late or not at all when businesses are expanding their operations offshore, or overseas businesses are looking to set up operations in New Zealand. This can prove to be costly and very tax inefficient for your clients. This webinar will outline the key tax issues to be considered when setting up a business in offshore jurisdictions and for overseas enterprises setting up businesses in New Zealand.

Topics covered will include:

  • How to structure cross border business operations, what determines tax residence and what is the relevance of tax residence?
  • Pricing and documenting the cross border provision of goods and services within an organisation – why is this required and what are the requirements?
  • Should a business be funded by debt or equity
    – what are the restrictions and tax implications of the different forms of funding?
  • Indirect tax and the cross border provision of goods and services.

Learning objectives

By completing this module you will:

  • Be aware of the key tax issues to consider when advising your clients on inbound or outbound expansion of business operations.
  • Understand the impact of effective tax planning in relation to international business structuring.
