Phase 2 of the AML/CFT Act extends the regime, to include lawyers and conveyancers, accountants, and real estate agents and high-value dealers. Lawyers and conveyancers must be compliant with their AML/CFT Act obligations by 1 July 2018.This presents both conceptual and practical challenges for the profession, and much work will need to be done by affected lawyers prior to that date. This series will help ensure that you have a practical understanding of the steps that you need to take in order to comply with the legislation.
The presenters will make a recommendation for a suitable compliance structure for medium sized firms, taking into account the Department of Internal Affairs Guidance Notes and will discuss third party engagements and Prescribed Transaction Reports.

The presenters will consider common practice scenarios such as client referrals, foreign law firms, and special situations such as receiverships.
