New Zealand's primary competition law, the Commerce Act 1986, has undergone significant amendment in the past five years, bringing the Act into line with our key trading partners. The key reforms include substantial changes to our cartel laws and exceptions, the introduction of criminal cartel penalties, the introduction of a 'market studies' function, repeal of the intellectual property exception, and substantial reform of the misuse of market power prohibition. This seminar will explain these reforms and assist you in understanding their practical implications.
