The decision to enter into a retirement village will invariably be a life changing decision for your clients. It is a legal requirement under the Retirement Villages Act 2003 that residents receive independent legal advice and understand the implications of the occupation right agreement they enter into. This seminar will have a practical focus on the key fundamentals in this area and help ensure that, when advising intending residents, you are able to ask your clients the right questions and provide them with robust advice.

This seminar will include:

  • An overview of the legislative framework in New Zealand
  • What you need to be aware of when advising your client about moving into a retirement village
  • How to identify key issues for your client when reviewing an Occupation Right Agreement (ORA) and disclosure statement
  • Your responsibilities when certifying an ORA.
