Employment issues can be extremely stressful for all concerned and it is important that you are able to provide your clients with effective advice in this area whatever side you are assisting. Building on from a session from the Auckland CPD Top-Up Day on 13 February this year, the presenters will reflect on the implications on some of the key cases and the latest issues.

This seminar will include:

  • Overview of core entitlements for employees, including commonly arising issues with Minimum Wage Act and Holidays Act
  • Collective and individual employment agreements
  • What is the difference?
  • What are different legal requirements?
  • Personal grievances
  • When can a PG be raised?
  • What is the process for raising and responding to a PG?

  • Be more confidently able to undertake a broad range of client advice and representation on these issues.

Michelle joined SBM in October 2017 as an Associate, after practising Employment Law in the UK for a number of years. She qualified and practised civil law (including employment) in Auckland, before moving to the UK. Michelle is an experienced employment lawyer, whose expertise incudes advising and representing employers (both private and public sector eg Government Departments/NHS/Local Authorities) and employees on a wide range of employment law issues.

Partner, SBM Legal, Auckland

Penny is a partner at SBM Legal. She has over thirty years of broad legal experience. In the course of her career Penny has worked for the NZ Department of Labour as a solicitor, as an employers’ representative and solicitor with the national employers’ organisation, and as a barrister sole before forming this specialist employment law firm. As a result Penny brings an extensive insight into the practical implications of employment relationship problems for her clients.

Cancellation and refund policy

If written notice of cancellation of a registration arrives before the day of the seminar we will refund the registration fee, less an administration fee of $40. If you are unable to attend, you may send a substitute - to correctly assign CPD credit, CLE must be notified in advance. NZLS CLE Ltd reserves the right to cancel or reschedule seminars if necessary.
