New Trusts Act - 15 months on

 

The highly anticipated Trusts Act 2019 came into force on 31 January 2021. This half day forum explores the headlining developments that are key to any trusts practice.

The forum will reflect on the practical implications of the new legislative landscape including:

• Disclosure of trust information
• Drafting issues arising from the Act
• Variations to trust deeds under the Act
• Trustee removal and vesting
• Key cases under the Act, and the themes emerging from these decisions.

Presenters

	Greg Kelly Principal, Greg Kelly Law, Wellington Greg has over 40 years’ experience in the wills, trusts and estate area. He is a member of the New Zealand Law Society Property Law and Family Law Sections, and of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, and has chaired the NZLS CLE Trust Conference since 2015.
	Kimberly Lawrence Senior Associate, Greg Kelly Law, Wellington Kimberly advises in relation to all aspects of trust law, particularly in relation to trust disputes including trustees’ and beneficiaries’ rights and obligations in respect of trust administration, information, and litigation.
	Colette Mackenzie Principal, Greg Kelly Law, Wellington Colette has extensive experience in the areas of trusts & estate planning, with expertise in the interrelationship between trusts and relationship property and dealing with the division of trust property on separation.
Greg, Kimberly, and Colette are authors of the 8th edition of Garrow and Kelly’s Law of Trusts and Trustees; Greg also co-authors Dobbies’ Probate and Administration Practice (5th and 6th editions), contributes to Butterworth’s Law of Trusts, and is the probate and administration author for McGechan on Procedure.

 

Cancellation and refund policy

You may cancel your registration eight working days in advance of an event, and you will receive a refund less a 25% administration fee. If you cancel less than eight working days in advance of the event, no refund is payable. If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your registration to another person. If you wish to do so you must advise CLE in writing of the change. NZLS CLE Ltd reserves the right to close registrations and cancel or reschedule an event as necessary. Where an event is cancelled by CLE, a full refund is payable.
