Construction Contract Issues for Non-Litigators

CCI12 Banner

The Construction Contracts Act is working well, so why do we need this seminar? The Act is now in its 10th year, so a review is timely and some issues have arisen that are a cause for concern.

This seminar recognises that junior practitioners need to be aware of fundamental issues such as the practical implications of the relevant legislation and how to take them into account when drafting contracts. It will offer an analysis of the key questions and common sections which need to be covered in all construction contracts and also best practice approach to dispute resolution.

In addition, presenters will examine what the Act was intended to achieve, whether it has fulfilled those intentions and how the courts have tended to treat matters under the Act. They will assess what developments have arisen, what are the by-products and how the Act should be measured in practice.

Presenters:
Carolyn Culliney, Meredith Connell, Auckland
Howard Thompson, McMahon, Butterworth, Thompson, Auckland
