Engaging with Māori collectives and iwi can be a complex state of affairs. However, largely as a result of Treaty settlements, Māori collectives and iwi are now a major part of New Zealand’s economic, political, public and private spheres.
Will you be engaging with Māori – either because you are legally obliged to or because it makes sense from a business or policy point of view? What are the benefits of doing so, who do you talk to and what are their drivers?
This module will outline some of the practical and legal considerations you need to be aware of when engaging with Māori collectives and iwi.The module will also look at the opportunities for commercial and cultural development and some of the pitfalls to look out for in the post-settlement cultural and legal context.
Topics covered will include:Please contact us if you use a dial up internet connection.
The purpose of this webinar, and the accompanying materials, is to provide an insight into how public and private entities, from government institutions to private commercial businesses and entities, can better engage with Māori collectives. This can be a minefield for many entities that want to establish a relationship with Māori collectives or groups, or strengthen an existing relation with Māori.
